The Alcove Restaurant first opened its doors on December 6th, 1911 as “Candyland” a candy shop selling homemade ice creams and sweets. Candyland was the first ice cream shop in the area to be open year round and The Alcove was the first public building in Mount Vernon to be air conditioned.
The Alcove Dinner Theatre is Mount Vernon’s one and only dinner theatre, opening in 1988. Shows include comedy, murder mysteries, small musicals and drama. Almost all shows have adult theme or language (pg-13). The Alcove has been visited by several celebrities over the years. Alan Alda, Paul Newman, and John Glenn are just to name a few. You can join them for dinner tonight and allow them to treat you like a celebrity.
During the Dinner & Show, cocktails start at 6:30 pm. It allows you to relax as you meet and greet friends and other guests. The dining room opens at 7:15 for salads, followed by a sumptuous dinner. After dinner beverages are served and the show begins. During break you are treated to dessert and drinks are once again refreshed. Shows are around 2 hours in length.
The Alcove Restaurant has earned a solid reputation for a great menu, good friends, lots of fun, and a highly comfortable dining.
